NCDW 2010 Celebrations Next Week!

In just one week's time, from 17 to 23 May, the national celebrations for the National Career Development Week campaign are ON! The NCDW website at www.ncdw.com.au has the largest careers events database in Australia. There are already more than 600 career development activities to choose from taking place across Australia throughout the year - and it's only May!

Now in the fourth year of the NCDW campaign, NCDW registered events are increasingly imaginative, with many event organisers putting on a number of activities daily throughout celebration week, targeting the career development needs and preferences of communities, business, industry, government departments, and educational providers from Primary Schools through to High Schools, TAFE and University. There's something for everyone needing information, advice, and support, with a wide variety of activities including careers expos, radio programs, film and video screenings, open days, resume checks, career treasure hunts, competitions, quizzes, online activities, blogs, library displays, seminars, parents programs, staff development programs, opportunities to try-a-trade, and so much more.

If you want to join the rapidly increasing numbers of event organisers running successful career development activities supported by the NCDW campaign, registering your event is as easy as completing a simple events registration form on our website.

Announcing NCDW 2010 Lead Events

Due to the fantastic number and diversity of events being held during the 2010 National Career Development Week campaign's annual week of celebrations, we have decided to spotlight a huge 30 lead events across each State and Territory of Australia. Lead events taking place during 17 to 23 May were selected based on information supplied, diversity of audience, variety of organising host and array of activities. Other NCDW registered events being held throughout the year are recognised in our regular "Spotlight on Events" feature on the website. We congratulate those NCDW lead events selected for this year's celebration week.

Network Ten Provides Its Support to the NCDW Campaign

In a special community partnership with Network Ten, a new National Career Development Week community service announcement (CSA) is being brought to you in 2010. Network Ten is known for hugely popular quality factual programming such as Masterchef, So You Think You Can Dance, and The Biggest Loser.  Network Ten's lead entertainment reporter, Angela Bishop is already lending her support to the NCDW campaign as an ambassador - and now in the new NCDW CSA to which Network Ten have generously donated priority airtime. Appearing in the 30 second CSA, Angela encourages the community to get involved in NCDW.  The new NCDW CSA exclusive to Network Ten started screening nationally on TEN and ONE on Sunday 25 April and will continue to be screened throughout May and June.  We thank Network Ten for their support of the NCDW campaign and look forward to working with them further in the months ahead.

*NEW* NCDW 2010 Media Kit to Help You Promote Your Messages

This week is an important week for promoting your NCDW event to local media. Sometimes the best way you can promote awareness and gain community support for your messages is to engage the interest of your local newspaper or radio station. If your event is open to the public, you need to send a media release today (Monday 10 May) to meet weekly newspaper print deadlines. If your event is invite only, for staff or students, your local media are more likely to be interested in a post-event media release plus photos of your event but make sure you tell your local newspaper (or radio station) this week!

NCDW has made it even easier for our registered event organisers to promote your event and its messages to your audience via your local media. There are already some great resources in the event planning section on the NCDW website. Now there's a new NCDW 2010 Media Kit up on the website to help you. The media kit consists of an NCDW media release, an easy to complete "Spotlight on events in your community" media release template, and some eye-catching NCDW artwork to send along with the media releases. It couldn't be easier for you to gain local media support for your career development messages!
