It's Spring, a time to get active after the cold Winter months, clean out the cobwebs, re-invigorate your approach to life, learning and work, put a Spring in your step, and embrace all things new ... so what can you expect in the coming months from the National Career Development Week project? Find out in this newsletter and check out the latest blog post on our website.

NCDW Update

Another year is upon us (only 63 days to the start of 2010) - but we still have 17 upcoming events registered on the NCDW website for 2009 and already six events registrations for 2010. It's not too late to register your 2009 events nor is it too early to register your 2010 events as although the calendar tells us that we are into end-of year countdown, like many of you, here at NCDW we are already planning 2010. We are developing new downloadable careers factsheets for you to use at your events and some new event templates to make your life easy.

Springing into action

We recognise that last year was a really tough year for many Australians, with the impact of the GFC, but even in a tough economic climate there are things we can all do to improve our employability skills and build resilience. Taking control of your future means career development - actively managing your career and being ready for change. We encourage all Australians to make this the year they get proactive about improving their work and lives with our support.

Spring Clean Your Career

Career development benefits everyone, whatever your age or career stage, and what better time to reinvigorate your career than Spring? To help get you and your family, friends, students or clients started to "freshen up" and reinvigorate your career, see the NCDW Career Factsheets:

NCDW Spring cleaning ... the NCDW website is getting its annual freshen-up with some improvements to functionality and lay-out to make it even easier to find the support you're looking for. New downloadable website resources are being developed at the time of writing and we will continue to update our links to the most current resources. So don't forget to keep checking the NCDW website for new content. If you have any suggestions for new content you'd like to see on the website we'd love you to share them with us so please email your suggestions to contact_team@ncdw.com.au

Changes to career development services - keep us updated

We're aware that some of you may have new contact details at the end of this year, as a result of recent changes to career development services and in particular the Youth Connections programs tender. Don't forget to provide us with your new email address by sending an email to contact_team@ncdw.com.au so we can stay in contact.

Benefits of career development - have your say!

We love to showcase your stories, case studies and examples of how National Career Development Week has helped you to help your clients or students make decisions about their future. If relevant you may like to refer back to previous years of your involvement with the campaign. Tell us how National Career Development Week (and career development) has made a difference and help us to continue to help you beyond June 2010. Please email these as word document attachments to contact_team@ncdw.com.au

Competition winners

A range of exciting competitions have already taken place during 2009. Firstly, we'd like to congratulate all of our NCDW 2009 event organisers for contributing to another great year of the campaign. With more than 700 events, thousands of Australians of all ages and career stages took the first step towards taking control of their future. For full details of this year's competition winners, check out the competitions page on the website.

Campaign news

Congratulations to the organisers of NCDW events in 2009 who were invited to attend a breakfast seminar entitled "Black Clouds Bring Rain! ...changing the way you think" in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. For the inside story on this event, take a look at the blog post dated 26 August on our website.

Reminder to send in footage of your events
