What is National Career Development Week?
-
Since early 2009 there has been economic uncertainty for many Australians and although for the vast majority, the threat of redundancy is no longer an issue for some Australians, but many are still worried about job security or career change.
Says Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) President Bernadette Gigliotti, "We all have unique experiences and skills to offer and can all take steps to have a career and a life that suits us better. Even in a tough job climate - especially in a tough job climate - there are things you can do. Many people simply don't know where to start - National Career Development Week can get you started, whatever your age or career stage."
Setting a new direction that matches your values, interests and lifestyle can turn gloom into an exciting journey.
National Career Development Week (NCDW) is a key initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia and is funded by the Federal Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). NCDW, through hundreds of careers events run throughout the year, encourages all Australians to actively engage in career development and develop the skills to manage their careers, learning, work and lives in order to get the life they love.
In 2010, the week in which we celebrate all of the careers activities held throughout the year will be from 17 to 23 May 2010.
Attending a National Career Development Week registered event is a positive way for all Australians to deal with any anxiety they may have about their job future.
