St Paul's Grammar School in Cranebrook NSW, hosted the launch event for National Career Development Week2007, and demonstrated how to get the life you love! The event included several career development activities including volunteering, study, work experience, personal interests and lifelong learning.
Parents, grandparents, students, teachers, the St Pauls cadet brigade, the Rural Fire Service, government dignitaries and representatives and the media were in attendance to see career development in action.
Hospitality students from St Paul's provided a free sausage sizzle and real coffee for participants and invitees, and musical entertainment was provided by St Paul's music ensembles.
The feature activity of the launch demonstrated that no matter what age you are you can learn new skills. A volunteer champion was fitted out in the Rural Fire Service's distinctive yellow overalls as and received a crash course in firefighting from St Paul's cadet brigade. He learned how to operate a fire tanker's pump and how to use fire hoses.
