Thank You Champion Skills Event Partners

Young Gun Challenges the Mundines
Anthony and Tony Mundine donated both their time and the use of their amazing gym in Redfern, the Elouera Tony Mundine Gym, to support the campaign at our most recent Champion Skills Event. They demonstrated that they're not only legends of the sport but great guys too. Just back from training in the US with another legendary duo, Roy Jones jnr and snr, Anthony Mundine shared boxing tips with our Celebrity Champion Mark Furze in good humour and even had a chat about Mark's good friend being Mundine's former rival in the ring - Danny Green! The gym was buzzing with activity and Mark was so impressed he was later caught talking to Tony Mundine about the facilities there. Anthony Mundine says it's a matter of believing in yourself and following that through with the hard work necessary to succeed, "the mind is the most powerful tool" - we definitely believe the Mundines have more inspiration to share than just boxing!
Newsreader's Magic Touch in Children's Hospital Fairy Garden
Chris's dream came true - literally with the wave of a wand - when community personality Fairy Sparkle agreed for Chris to learn some landscape gardening tips from Jason Hodges in her specially designed children's therapy garden at the Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick. Chris Bath and Jason Hodges bantered about driving a Ute, Chris's inability to grow the easiest herb in the garden - mint, and how dangerous she was with the sacoteurs. Luckily for us, Jason volunteered for the gig and even allowed Chris to interview him about his career, not to mention giving him a hard time about driving that Ute! It seems the Newsreader in Chris is here to stay, whatever her future career development plans - she was later to be heard interviewing a radio journalist about what courses he'd taken and how they'd contributed to his career! Chris is certainly a Career Champion!
Blue Wiggle's Field of Dreams
It all started with a Q&A with Anthony Field in the weekend papers and the dreamlike question, "If you could be anyone in the world, who would it be?" The hugely successful ARIA award-winning Wiggle said young NRL player Benji Marshall, and an idea was born - one that led to a series of NCDW events. Our Champion Skills Event series kicked off with Anthony Field being taught NRL skills by that very same famous Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall. The Wests Tigers Media Officer, Wayne Cousins, showed us exactly why the team have earned the title of "the good guys of the NRL" by hosting the widely reported event for us at the Concord Oval. When we couldn't get The Big Red Car to start a near disaster turned into a winning photo opportunity - appearing the next day in the Sydney Morning Herald and Daily Telegraph - as the Blue Wiggle pitched in and pushed, with Benji in the driving seat wearing his trademark blue skivvy! What the news cameras didn't see is the very amusing sight of great big rugby lads tearing around the pitch at high speed in The Big Red Car before the event - hope the tyre tracks aren't still there!
