2012
Another Campaign year is upon us as we are now working on the 2012 Campaign. In 2012 National Career Development Week will be held from 14 - 20 May 2012.
The best way to find out about the exciting changes and new initiatives is to read all about it in the newsletter below. And don't forget to share the information with colleagues and others in your network by forwarding the newsletter to them and encouraging them to also subscribe.
Campaign News!
The most exciting news is that we've changed the name of the year-long campaign to the Get the life you love Campaign (including National Career Development Week).
This change puts the focus on career development as a year long campaign (Get the life you love Campaign) with a specific celebration week (National Career Development Week).
The key message here is that the Get the life you love Campaign supports career development activities and events all year as well as during celebration week!
But the name is the only change - we still provide you with fantastic free career development resources.

National Forums!
One of the great new initiatives for the 2012 campaign is that we are running six National Forums. Each Forum is designed to inspire students to aspire to get the life they love through understanding and knowledge of their interests, skills, options and opportunities to make a successful transition into an increasingly complex labour market. The program is hosted in each location by Steve Liebmann (Journalist and TV Host) and features three high profile Guest Speakers along with six local young people with inspiring career stories who will be interviewed by Steve.
In October the first of our Forums was held on the Gold Coast in partnership with the Gold Coast School/Business Community Partnership Program (The Smith Family) at Bond University with 230 students from 8 local schools. The second Forum held in early November in Mount Gambier in partnership with the School Business Community Partnership Program (Limestone Coast Regional Development Board Inc.) was attended by an amazing 550 students from 6 local schools. In the first half of 2012 we will be taking the Forum to Perth, Darwin, Launceston and regional NSW.

Resources!
We've already uploaded new Career Factsheets in the Resources Hub and over the next six months we will be adding at least 20 new videos to our existing Speaker Series on our YouTube Channel - AusCareerWeek. These videos are developed from the Guest Speakers at our Community Forums and will be available for you to use as a classroom resource. Our Guest Speakers and local career story guests are all asked to draw from their own personal experience and career journey to inspire students to aspire to get the life they love.
The Series currently includes: Eddie McGuire, David Wirrpanda and Sam Sheppard (women in non-traditional jobs) and coming soon are Courtney Hancock (Australian Ironwoman 2011), Preston Campbell (indigenous NRL footballer), Soul Mystique (Gavin Skinner & Lydia Lim - World top 10 magic act), Michael Lynch (builder & winner Network Ten Renovators show), Emilio De Stefano (Hardware Engineer) and Kate Southam (Editor CareerOne).
Event Registrations!
We invite all organisers of events with a career-related theme to register their events on our database at www.ncdw.com.au. Remember that whilst our celebration week will take place from 14 to 20 May 2012, the Get the life you love Campaign is a year-long campaign and you can register events being held at any time in the months ahead.
To get registered it’s as easy as completing the Events Registration Form on our website. Once registered, you’ll be able to use all the resources on the website to assist you to run a successful career development activity.
There are so many benefits of including your career development events in the Get the life you love Campaign, including - being able to access and use all Campaign resources (Factsheets, Templates, Videos, etc), being linked to a national campaign, receiving free merchandise and in 2012 all registered event organisers names will go in a monthly draw to receive $500 to assist with career development activities. All schools, community organisations and non-profit organisations will be eligible. More details will be included in the December newsletter.
