National Career Development Week privacy policy

Your access and use of the National Career Development Week website (the "Site"), constitutes your acceptance of the following terms and conditions (the "Terms"). If you do not agree with these terms, please discontinue use of our site. The Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) (“We”, “Our” or “Us”) reserves the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this policy and information contained on the Site at any time. Please check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of our Site following the posting of changes to these Terms will mean that you accept those changes.

Background and Scope

CICA is concerned with the protection of your privacy. We are bound by the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1998 (Commonwealth) in the way we handle personal information.

All personal information collected by CICA via the NCDW website is protected by the Privacy Act 1988. Information on the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 can be found on the Federal Privacy Commissioner’s web site.

This policy explains how we handle personal information relating to individuals. It deals with the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, as well as access to personal information and security issues. Nothing in this policy limits any of our other obligations at law.

Confidentiality and Privacy Policy

It is CICA’s policy that personal information of the users of our site is private and confidential. Accordingly, any personal information you provide is stored in a secure location, accessible only by designated staff.

Collection of Information and Use of Personal Information
The NCDW server tracks information about the visits to our site. For example, statistics are compiled that show the daily number of visitors, the daily visits to our resources and information. These statistics are used by CICA to understand the usage of our site and to customize it accordingly.

Some areas of the NCDW site may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal information, including your name and email address. CICA may use the information you give us to measure consumer interest in our products and services, provide a service, or inform you about new products, programs and opportunities we think will be of interest and allow us to perform a service for you.

CICA will remove your name from any postal mail or email lists, at your request.

Should you choose not to provide personal information we may not be able to provide you with the services you require or at a sufficient level that we regard as important for undertaking or accessing NCDW events and activities.

CICA provides visitors the opportunity to post career-related events to our on-line Calendar of events for NCDW. However, neither CICA nor NCDW is responsible for the cancellation of any event listed in the NCDW Calendar of events.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

Where you choose to submit a completed electronic form for registration for NCDW it includes your personal details; please note we do collect personally identifiable information, such as name, address and email address.
Because CICA considers the individual information we maintain to be confidential, our policy is to disclose no personal information gathered on-line to third parties unless release is required by law or is pertinent to judicial or government investigations or proceedings.

Your personal information may be used by us or our member Associations to:

  • Provide products and services to and for you
  • Provide you with updated or new information about NCDW and career development across Australia
  • For development of existing and new products and services by CICA
  • Promote our other products and services to you.

CICA may choose to rent mailing lists to our member organisations for the limited purpose of:

  • targeting consumer interest in similar partners/members products and services
  • or to inform users about new products, programs and opportunities we think may be of interest and benefit.

Although we take measures to safeguard and secure the privacy of users' information supplied to us, we are not liable for any loss, breach or theft of such information.

If you do not wish to receive communications from us, you may unsubscribe at any time by following the link at the bottom of the message you received.

In providing products and services, or collecting and using your personal information, we may be required to disclose some of your personal information to third party organisations, including:

  • outsourced service providers / sub contractors;
  • regulatory, government and other authorities as required by law
  • CICA member Associations.

Security of Personal Information

You should be aware that there are inherent risks associated with the transmission of information via the Internet.
CICA takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information held from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

We will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or destroyed.

Any suggestions or comments that we adopt and use become our property, and you agree not to assert any ownership right of any kind in your submission or comment including, but not limited to copyright, trade-mark, unfair competition, moral rights, or implied contract, and you waive the right to receive any financial or other consideration in connection with such unsolicited submission including, but not limited to, credit.

Customer Service

We communicate with users on a regular basis to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account. We may reply to requests via email or phone, in accordance with the users’ wishes.
