Where do I start?
Why is career development important for me?
What are career management skills?
What are my career values? Do the test to find out what matters to you. Many people do not understand their career values. The more a job meets your values the more you will enjoy it.
The Keep Australia Working website allows job seekers to access detailed information about programs and initiatives that can help them find work, or find support if they have lost their job. The information provided on the website can also assist employers to re-train and retain workers in the current economic climate.

The National Career Development Week (NCDW) initiative provides lots of resources to help you understand your career journey, whether it is the career you planned or something entirely different.
What is National Career Development Week?
There are a number of ways that you can get involved.
◊ If you are looking for information for your own career - you can:
- Attend a careers seminar or event in your local area - the Event Search section will help you to locate an event near you. But we've only just started for the year so there may not be many events to search just yet. Come back and keep checking - in 2008 there were over 580 events.
- Use the Resource links located on this website to find links to other information websites that will help you to do your own career planning, seek assistance from a careers practitioner, look for jobs, help others, etc.
◊ If you are already organising a local careers event, you can Register it here on the website to be included in our Event Search section. (Once you have registered the event we'll send you the Event Kit containing the "How to" disc with video tips from event organisers, Fact Sheets, Templates and promotional resources to assist you in organising your event)
◊ If you want to know more, you can Subscribe to receive the NCDW Enewsletter.
Download the Five steps to get started factsheet.
