Where do I start?

Career - what does it mean?

What is career development?

Why is career development important for me?

What are career management skills?

What are your career values? Many people do not understand their career values. The more a job meets your values the more you will enjoy it.

Career Explorer on myfuture.edu.au will help you identify jobs that suit you. (This program may not open on Tablets and Mobile Devices.)

The Get the life you love Campaign (including National Career Development Week [NCDW]) initiative provides lots of resources to help you understand your career journey, whether it is the career you planned or something entirely different.

What is GTLYL or NCDW?

There are a number of ways that you can get involved.

If you are looking for information for your own career - you can:

  • Attend a careers seminar or event in your local area - the Event Search section will help you to locate an event near you. But we've only just started for the year so there may not be many events to search just yet. Come back and keep checking!
  • Use the Resources Hub menu above to find links to other information websites that will help you to do your own career planning, seek assistance from a careers practitioner, look for jobs, help others, etc.

If you are already organising a local careers event, you can Register it here on the website to be included in our Event Search section. Once you have registered the event you'll receive a username and password to access the "How to" resources with video tips from event organisers, in the Event Organisers "login" section. Don't forget to check-out the Media Kit for suggestions on how to promote your events.

If you want to know more, you can to receive the Campaign Enewsletter.

Where can I get more information?

Our Resources Hub (see Menu bar above) includes links to lots of careers websites and other useful information for your personal career journey.

Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.
