Thousands of Australians of all ages and career stages took the first step towards better managing their life, learning and work, during the 2009 National Career Development Week (NCDW) celebrations from 18 to 24 May.

With more than 700 events, and now a year-long campaign, NCDW has become a vital link for all Australians making career decisions. In 2010, NCDW celebration week will take place from 17 to 23 May.

Remember that challenge I set for you to send in your NCDW stories? We've had such a fantastic response that it's taken until now to allow everyone time to get their great stories and photos to us (see above and go to our image gallery). So what did we learn? ...

We received 154 emails and phone calls, providing specific feedback - and all of it positive! Here are just a few of the recurring themes ...

I heard Chris Bath on the Mix Breakfast show speaking about NCDW this morning. I was impressed with the fact that she was promoting Career Development to people of all ages and stages of life ... As I keep saying to my students, Career Development Week is every week...

NCDW provided the encouragement (and resources) to organise an event.

Linking to a national campaign, provided a higher profile for our event.

Because of the success of my NCDW event, I've now been asked to organise events at four other prisons.

I'm looking forward to organising something bigger next year.

Giving away your merchandise with a career development message was a very successful way for our event and the message to be remembered.

We're always so happy to receive your event stories and photos, you can send them in at any time (to contact_team@ncdw.com.au) because career development is much too important to be restricted to just one week a year - and because we love hearing from you!

National Career Development Week forms part of a larger year-long campaign and is an initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia with funding from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
